February Events Line up!

Thankfully January is almost over & we can start to get some normality back into our lives, all you ‘hero’s’ that have done dry January, the wagon is leaving shortly & it’s time to fall off, don’t worry, we are here to welcome you back with open arms and full glasses!
Over the past few weeks we have made some changes in Chester’s and we look forward to the coming year with fresh ideas and plenty of fun planned!
We wont bore you with the Tax Vat increase which starts from the 1st of Feb, that’s for another email…
I was lucky enough to be in Paris last week, for 3 days life was very simple, eating and drinking our way around. We were about to finish our 1st bottle of Lapierre Morgon in L’avant Comptoir, a deliciously simple wine bar that made me made me realise more than ever just how over complicated we make life over here, even when it comes to eating and drinking, thus in mind, expect to see a shorter but ever changing menu here from now on, using epic ingredients, plated simply, changing when we feel like it. We will have specials weekly and if I can convince Karla to bake weekly we should have some delightful sweet things also… last weeks Basque cheesecake was unreal!
The tasting events will still happen, but we will have some that feel a little different! I’m a firm believer in the saying ‘you never really get to know a bottle of wine until you drink a whole bottle’ - it might be my saying, I’m not sure any more, the lines of reality and fiction at this point of January are truly blurred.. any way, tasting events, lets make them more fun, less fussy, more about wine, drinking wine, with a bit of food, but, the food plays a supporting role, not the star of the show.
With that in mind we are delighted to announce our next 2 ‘events’!
The idea being you drink a bottle of wine, we will supply you a bit of food, we will all have a good time and you can discover something that we already love, in the hope that you do too…
So 1st up, that bottle of wine I inhaled in that bar at 1pm last Tuesday, I want you to all do the same, and I’ll cook some Bavette steaks over the fire, season them with plenty of salt, and feed you them. Simple and bloody delicious. Not to mention the 2023 Lapierre Morgon is bottled nectar and a cult classic.
Secondly, we will celebrate the Launch of the new vintages from the jewel in our crown, Jose Gil, Rioja. But we will celebrate it like we are in a small workers bar in Sonsierra, the home of Jose. A bottle of the new release 2023 on your table and some BBQ Lamb from the fire pit.
Booking for these events is available from now and instead of sitting everyone at once, bookings will be open from 5pm so if you want to swing in after work you can, or if you’d like to join us later please do, we will just ask for a 2 hour table period.
